Subzero is one of the chapters of the Geometry Dash series. The very first game was presented back in 2013 by RobTop Games. The idea was warmly met by gaming community, encouraging the creators to add more episodes. The platformer has become incredibly captivating despite a very basic idea.

What’s the player’s mission?

The original release and all its additions offer just one activity. You play for a small geometrical shape that tries to make its wat through endless hurdles. In other words, a cute protagonist needs to pass a lot of obstacle courses and reach the finishing point safe and sound. The entertainment has only 3 levels. However, players will need to train quite long in order to successfully pass them. It is a really hardcore platformer. And its distinctive feature is the musical element. All player’s moves are accompanied by engaging electronic music.

7 cool personages!

When you start the game, the protagonist is a cube. However, as you advance through the game, you will unlock new options. There are seven of them:

Rocket. It is an entirely new shape that needs to be differently controlled. You will have to maintain the rocket in the air.

  •       Cube. This is the basic shape that is available from the very beginning.
  •       Ball. This option gives you a new possibility – the ball can roll on floor and on the ceiling.
  •       UFO. This shape is similar to a rocket, but UFO can make small jumps above the surface.
  •       Wave. This shape is difficult to control as the wave moves diagonally.
  •       Robot. This option represents a frog-like creature that jumps well.
  •       Spider. This shape allows the hero to move between the floor and the ceiling.

You can experiment with your personage’s appearance using a large palette of colors and icons. However, these options are locked in the beginning of the game. You will gradually get access to them by completing levels. Also remember that some external changes are only unlocked in the full version of this game, which must be obtained separately.

Enjoy three levels

This chapter of Geometry Dash has 3 levels. These are Press Start, Nock Em and Power Trip. At first glance, it may seem you will need only several minutes to complete them. But do not be so optimistic! The complexity of the game will make you struggle. You will need long hours and even weeks to successfully cope with all the trials.

Each level comes with unique elements. For example, in Press Start you will face a boss you need to destroy. In Nock Em, you will be confused by frequent and unexpected changes in movement direction. In Power Trip, players are to tackle gravitation challenges.

There is a side mission on each of the above levels – the player must find three coins that are skillfully hidden.

How to play?

Before you dive into endless parkour, it is vital to know how to move in this adventure. The controls are very simple in Geometry Dash Subzero.

  • Press SPACE/UP Arrow – Execute a jump
  • Hold DOWN SPACE/UP Arrow – Perform a multi-jump
  • Press UP Arrow – Direct the hero upwards
  • Press DOWN Arrow – Guide the hero downwards

Avoid contact with the spikes and other sharp objects at all costs, as such an encounter will lead to a level restart.

Customization features

Subzero addition offers various customization features that add a touch of uniqueness to the walkthrough and let players express their individual style. What can you modify in the game?

  •       Icons. The menu offers a wide range of icons to represent the character in the game. These icons include various geometric shapes and symbols. You can mix and match different icons to create a distinct character design.
  •       Skins. These elements alter the appearance of your character in the Subzero chapter. They can give your personage a different texture or theme. Some skins are available for free, while others may be unlocked for different achievements.
  •       Music. Although not a built-in feature, some players incorporate custom music into their levels. This adds an additional layer of personalization and creativity to the game.
  •       Colors. Customize the colors of the hero, background, and objects in the game. You can use endless options and experiment with combinations. Now you are free to make your levels visually striking and unique.
  •       User-created content. Players can access a wealth of user-created content via the online community. This extends the players’ freedom, as they can explore and use content created by other fans.

These customization features encourage creativity, allowing players to express their unique styles in the game’s bright and rhythmic world.

Uncover some tips!

Do you want to reach satisfying results in this unusual platformer? Here are five tricks to enable you to do it:

Practice mode. The winning feature of this mode is the ability to continuously train without the necessity to restart each time you fail. You will develop helpful habits and master algorithms.

Follow the rhythm. Pay close attention to the background music. The levels are accompanied by electronic rhythm.  You can use the beat as a guide for your movements. Make jumps and maneuvers to the music and navigate obstacles with ease.

Understand all the controls. This platformer relies on precise timing. Master the controls to perform short taps for low jumps and longer taps for higher jumps. You must press buttons instinctively to make precise moves.

Do not lose your patience. Some levels in the Subzero chapter can be extremely challenging and may require numerous attempts to succeed. Stay patient and composed. Frustration can lead to mistakes, so take breaks if needed.

Learn from others. Watch videos of skilled players tackling difficult levels in the game. You can pick up valuable strategies, patterns, and techniques by observing how experienced players navigate obstacles.

These tips should teach you how to improve your performance and tackle the demanding levels in the game. Remember, it’s only determination and training that will bring you a good outcome.

Generate your own levels!

The developers have added a built-in editor that allows users to create their own trials in Geometry Dash. These fan-made levels can vary significantly in terms of complexity and quality, resulting in different rating tiers. These ratings are further divided into three main categories: star ratings, feature ratings, and epic ratings.

  •       Easy levels. These allow you to reach a 2-star rating upon completion. These levels feature the lowest level of difficulty and are quite simple.
  •       Normal levels. These allow to receive a 3-star rating upon successful completion.
  •       Hard levels. Here you have a chance to get a 4-star or 5-star rating upon successful completion.
  •       Insane levels. You get a great award – an 8-star or 9-star rating upon completion.
  •       Demon levels. That’s a really diabolic challenge in Geometry Dash that grants a 10-star rating upon successful completion.

These different categories allow players to select levels that match their skills.

Summing up the above, you may think that this platformer chapter is a game only for avid hardcore fans and those who like dreadful challenges. However, it is far from being true. The project will be appreciated by fans of platformers! Do not miss a chance to gain new experience and get tons of fun.
